Arthur E. Perkins

Arthur E. Perkins of 12 East Collins Street served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on May 18^th, 1980 in Salem. Arthur initially enlisted on April 18^th, 1918 to the 151^st Depot Brigade. He was later transferred on May 23^rd, 1918 to Company E, 302^nd Infantry, 76^th Division and arrived overseas on July 5^th, 1918. He was again transferred on October 18^th, 1918 to Company E, 319^th Infantry, 80^th Division. Tragically, he died from disease in France on January 21^st, 1919. He was the son of Alfred Leander and Ella Francis (Chestley) Perkins and brother to Charles, Clarence, Stephen, Nettie Mary, Ruth, and Edith.
