Arthur E. Perkins

Arthur E. Perkins of 12 East Collins Street served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on May 18th, 1980 in Salem. Arthur initially enlisted on April 18th, 1918 to the 151st Depot Brigade. He was later transferred on May 23rd, 1918 to Company E, 302nd Infantry, 76th Division and arrived overseas on July 5th, 1918. He was again transferred on October 18th, 1918 to Company E, 319th Infantry, 80th Division. Tragically, he died from disease in France on January 21st, 1919. He was the son of Alfred Leander and Ella Francis (Chestley) Perkins and brother to Charles, Clarence, Stephen, Nettie Mary, Ruth, and Edith.
