Elias "Eli" Tardiff

Elias “Eli” Tardiff of 81 Ocean Avenue served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on June 5th, 1882 in St. Arsene, Quebec, yet resided in Massachusetts for thirty one years prior to serving and become a naturalized citizen on October 7th, 1903. Elias initially enlisted on October 24th, 1917 to the 6th Recruit Company, General Service Infantry of Fort Slocum, New York. He was later transferred on November 17th, 1917 to the Ordinance Department, Frankford Arsenal. Tragically, he died from disease on April 28th, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Gilbert and Julie (Gagnon) Tardiff and brother to Alphonsine, Aurelli, Eugenie, Joseph, Alphonse, Emile, Marie, Denige, Marie Louise, and Omer.
