Elias "Eli" Tardiff

Elias “Eli” Tardiff of 81 Ocean Avenue served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on June 5^th, 1882 in St. Arsene, Quebec, yet resided in Massachusetts for thirty one years prior to serving and become a naturalized citizen on October 7^th, 1903. Elias initially enlisted on October 24^th, 1917 to the 6^th Recruit Company, General Service Infantry of Fort Slocum, New York. He was later transferred on November 17^th, 1917 to the Ordinance Department, Frankford Arsenal. Tragically, he died from disease on April 28^th, 1919 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Gilbert and Julie (Gagnon) Tardiff and brother to Alphonsine, Aurelli, Eugenie, Joseph, Alphonse, Emile, Marie, Denige, Marie Louise, and Omer.
