Machinist’s Mate First Class Ernest W. Mudge

Machinist’s Mate First Class Ernest W. Mudge served in the US Navy Reserves during World War I. He was born on November 6^th, 1873 in Lynn, Massachusetts. Machinist’s Mate First Class Mudge initially enlisted on April 12^th, 1917 and reported for duty on July 10^th, 1917, assigned to Section 63, Naval District. He was later assigned to the Mine Sweeping Division of New York City on October 25^th, 1917 and later to the USS Housatonic on January 24^th, 1918. Tragically, he died from disease in Fort Lyon, Colorado on April 8^th, 1919.
