Seaman Apprentice Wallace C. Upton

Seaman Apprentice Wallace C. Upton of 10 Osbourne Street served in the US Navy Reserves during World War I. He was born on February 23rd, 1899 in Salem. He worked as a clerk of AC Lawrence and also attended Salem High School prior to serving. Seaman Apprentice Upton initially enlisted on October 4th, 1918 and assigned to the Naval Unit of Harvard University. Tragically, he died from disease on November 26th, 1918 in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He was the son of Francis and Alice (Phippen) Upton of Salem.
