Seaman Apprentice Wallace C. Upton

Seaman Apprentice Wallace C. Upton of 10 Osbourne Street served in the US Navy Reserves during World War I. He was born on February 23^rd, 1899 in Salem. He worked as a clerk of AC Lawrence and also attended Salem High School prior to serving. Seaman Apprentice Upton initially enlisted on October 4^th, 1918 and assigned to the Naval Unit of Harvard University. Tragically, he died from disease on November 26^th, 1918 in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He was the son of Francis and Alice (Phippen) Upton of Salem.
